The 3rd XI league season starts on 3rd May as Hayes CC host neighbours Bromley Common as we look to build upon our success in KCL division 10. Last season finished with a nail-biting conclusion going to the last game with radio communications come live from Blue Star vs Sidcup letting the 3s know exactly what was needed as each over ticked by.
2024 was hugely successful for the 3rd XI with Hayes CC players topping the batting (Adam Greenway 645 runs), bowling (MD Belal 38 wickets) and wicket keeping (Sam Millard 21 victims) stats for Div 10. Hayes’ wicket keeper also found himself the recipient of the Matthew Quantrill Award for Wicket Keeper of the Year.
Having won the league and promotion captain Leo had overseen a job well done and stepped down handing the reigns over to Colin Couldrey who inherits a team mixed with youth and experience who are hoping to firmly establish themselves in Tier 3 and make a push for back-to-back promotions.
Much like the 3rd XI the 4th XI had a very successful season in 2024. Although, their finish to the league season was much more relaxed having won their league with 4 games to spare. Much like the 3s there were Hayes player featuring at the very top of the league stats: Batting (Jesse Rowson 467) and bowling (Will Hadley 35 wickets).
Robert Taylor who has been a steady hand at the helm of the 4th XI for the past few seasons also saw the conclusion of his tenure end with a league win and having completed project 4th XI league revival with a title win has pass the mantle on to Ben Manners who last year finished second for fielding dismissals with 15 an amazing feat for an outfielder. Manners, much like Couldrey has inherited a team of wily veterans and hungry youth players looking to make their mark at Hayes CC. The 4s start their league season on 10th May against Blackheath at home as they too look to make it back to back promotions.
Training has been in full swing and there have been improvements made to the ground and facilities on the back field with more in the pipeline to make The Meadow one of the best places to play cricket in the lower leagues. So, if you find yourself at Hayes CC make sure you wander past the nets and hedges and check in on the exciting action on the back field.
