Hayes’s Ryana MacDonald-Gay and Alexa Stonehouse both played a big part in England’s win by 3 runs over Australia in today’s U19 World Cup semi-final.
In a tense low scoring encounter, Ryana took a wicket, two catches and a crucial run out when Australia were just four runs from victory with two wickets remaining. Alexa top scored for England with 25, helping England reach 99 before taking a caught and bowled with her second ball to reduce Australia to 4-2 and get England back into the match.
Speaking to the girls after the match they said “It was a nail biting game and very intense throughout both innings. To be able to both contribute within the game was phenomenal and we are massively looking forward to the finals against India!!’
Well done to both the Hayes girls.
England now face India in Sunday’s final which will be shown on Sky Sports.
